Wing phone orders: count, flavor and dip

Zogu asks for each choice your wing menu needs, one at a time, and split flavors work when your menu allows two. No restaurant uses it yet; the examples come from a sample wing menu we ran on November 5, 2026.

What the agent asks

On the sample menu, a 10-piece needs a style, a flavor and a dip. The agent's lines from that run:

For the ten-piece Wings, which style would you like? We have Bone-In or Boneless.

For the ten-piece Wings, which flavor would you like? We have eight, including Buffalo, Hot, Lemon Pepper and Garlic Parmesan.

For the ten-piece Wings, which dip would you like? We have Ranch or Blue Cheese.

  • Questions follow the group order in your POS. With more than four options it names the first four.
  • "Traditional" worked because we linked it to Bone-In.
  • 8pcs is said "eight-piece," and "wings" never matches "rings."
  • An answer not on the list (Nashville hot) gets the question again, opening "Sorry, I didn't catch that," which is odd for a caller who spoke clearly.

More on how the agent understands callers.

Split flavors follow your menu

  • With two flavors allowed, both go on. A third gets "You can choose up to two for flavor."
  • With one allowed, only the last flavor named stays, and the caller isn't told why.
  • "Half buffalo, half lemon pepper" isn't read as a split. In a test it got "Sorry, the 20-piece Wings doesn't come with half buffalo or half lemon pepper." It hasn't been tried on a live call.
  • A priced flavor or dip is added to the price.

Game day

Each call has its own session and order, so one caller's blue cheese can't land on another's ticket.

  • 20 of one item per order: "I can take up to twenty of one item over the phone."
  • Not load-tested. Model rate limits and our carrier's cap on calls at once both apply, unmeasured.
  • Two failed turns in a row end the call with an apology.

Our reply times come from our own team's calls, none in a rush (the figures). See also stopping missed phone orders in the rush.

Sides and drinks

Once the caller is done, the agent can make up to two add-on offers, and a "no" ends them. The first can be your own question, like "Do you want to add a large fries?" The second comes from a side, drink or dessert category: "Would you like a drink as well?" It won't offer extra dips unless you give us that question. More on how add-on offers work.

Setting up your wing menu

  • Keep group names short. "Choose Your Flavor" becomes "which choose your flavor would you like?"
  • Put your best sellers first. Those are the four it names.
  • Make a group required if every caller should be asked.
  • Set the Flavor maximum to two where you allow a split.
  • Use a separate item for each count. Sizes are said unevenly today.
  • Tell us your regulars' words, and we link them on the Teach page.

What isn't ready for US wing shops

  • Totals are said "before tax." Zogu adds no sales tax.
  • Delivery doesn't take ZIP codes yet.
  • English only, no transfers.
  • No real restaurant has used it.

Questions and answers

Does it work if my wing counts are sizes of one item?

Yes. The agent asks "For the Wings, which one would you like?" and names the sizes. Separate items read more smoothly today.

Can it tell a caller which flavor is hottest?

Only if your POS menu or a written answer for your shop says so. Otherwise it says it doesn't know, and the question is saved for review.

Do callers know they're talking to an automated agent?

Yes. Every call opens by saying so. Calls are kept as text transcripts, with no audio.
