BBQ to-go phone orders, sell-outs and all

When the brisket's 86'd, hide it in your POS and later calls won't offer it. No BBQ restaurant uses Zogu yet; every example comes from a made-up BBQ menu run through our code.

When the brisket runs out

  • Hide the single item rather than republishing the menu. It reaches us faster.
  • A call already going keeps its menu, so a 6:28 caller can still order it.
  • Hide brisket everywhere: the sandwich, and the brisket choice on plates and packs.
  • Item hours (burnt ends Fridays and Saturdays only) and paused orders are followed too.

More on how Zogu works from your live POS menu.

What callers hear when they ask for it anyway

Caller: "Can I get a brisket sandwich?"

Zogu: "Sorry, I couldn't find brisket sandwich on our menu, but we have the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Would you like that instead?"

  • "A pound of brisket" gets what's left by the pound.
  • "The usual" comes back checked against today's menu. See how Zogu knows returning callers.
  • Gaps: "couldn't find on our menu" sounds odd to a regular, and plain "brisket" gets no suggestion.
  • Every miss goes on a review list.

Meats by the pound

Zogu reads weights set up as separate items, sizes or a required choice:

Zogu: "For the Brisket, which one would you like? We have half pound or 1 pound."

Menu search on November 5, 2026:

What the caller saysWhat happened
"half a pound of brisket"Found BRISKET 1/2 LB
"a pound of brisket"Asked: half pound or 1 pound
"a half rack"Found ST LOUIS RIBS HALF RACK
"ribs"Asked: half rack or full rack

Known gap: "1/2 LB BRISKET" with a space is said "half LB Brisket." Write "1/2LB" or "HALF POUND," or we set "LB" to "pound" on the Teach page. BBQ stays BBQ, but so does the ST in "ST LOUIS RIBS."

Family packs and sides

Required choices are asked in turn:

Zogu: "For the Family Pack, which meats would you like? We have Brisket, Pulled Pork, Spare Ribs or Sausage. Please choose two."

  • One too many gets "You can choose up to two for meats."
  • Hidden choices drop out of the list.
  • Name groups as you'd say them. "Choose your meats" becomes "which choose your meats would you like?"
  • "Mac and cheese" found MAC N CHEESE. "Slaw" didn't find COLESLAW until it was linked on the Teach page.

What it won't do

  • No transfers or call-backs.
  • No orders for later, so no catering booked ahead.
  • No card details by phone.
  • English only.
  • It doesn't wait for the kitchen, so a rejected order is yours to sort out.
  • It says "postcode." Delivery is only tested with UK postcodes.

Questions and answers

Can Zogu sell brisket by exact weight, like 1.3 pounds?

No. It sells the portions on your menu at their prices, up to 20 of any one item.

Does Zogu work with my POS?

If it's Toast, Square, Clover, Oracle MICROS RES 3700 or Foodhub. It reads your menu and hours from your POS through our POS integration platform and sends orders back the same way.

Can a caller order catering for Saturday?

No. It doesn't take orders for later, so catering callers need another way to reach you, like an email on your website.
